Ozone
For many decades now, the treatment of the disease ‘dental caries’
has involved only surgical intervention leading to the amputation of the
infected tissue. No matter how skillful the dental surgeon is at cutting
out infected tissue and then reconstructing the missing portion of the tooth
can it ever be as good as what we started with?
Fortunately, we are now able to offer the alternative of a FORTY second
procedure which requires no injection and usually no drilling – OZONE
therapy.
Ozone is a natural product found in abundance at very high altitudes. Because
of its highly reactive and oxidative nature it is able to provide protection
from a variety of harmful elements. It has been used in general medicine
for a number of decades but has only recently been introduced into dental
medicine. |

The
affected area is mapped using a revolutionary new laser technology allowing
us to examine the area in 3D as opposed to the usual 2D images of conventional
x-rays. This allows diagnosis of smaller cavities before they can be seen
on an x-ray. The tooth is then covered and sealed with a special silicone
cup forming a vacuum which is then flooded with ozone. The procedure is
over in a minute. Two months later when we take another laser reading we
should find that the area has healed. Larger cavities may require more than
one procedure.
